Back from San Diego Comicon 2006! It was a riot. Met loads of really cool people, made friends, didn't sleep, signed & sketched, defaced many comics with my signature. Ran around with the lovely & charming Frazer Irving who drew me as some kind of fabulous Canadian superhero for my birthday.

Of Bitter Souls Vol. 2 cover

This is the cover for the second volume of Of Bitter Souls, Chuck Satterlee and Norm Breyfogle's ongoing series about magic & mysticism set in New Orleans (this collection is all-zombies, I'm told), published by Markosia. I thought I'd snap a few pics to record my process, but as usual, I took one at the beginning of the painting and forgot to take any more until I was finished.

So here you go; this is how I go from start to finish in 3 easy steps! Haha.

It would be nice if I had the means/time to photograph stuff like this for reproduction! Scanning really flattens out the paint textures.

Innards again

Here's a sketch of Andy the vampire. The original will be going to the lovely Loren Meyers for winning the super special DONE TO DEATH letter-column-naming contest (winning entry: "REaD DEATH")! The actual sketch has a lot of white conte on it to cover up my mistakes, which I'm kind of embarassed about, because Loren is a comic artist too and a much more professional one than me.

Andrew & I will also be giving out signed and numbered prints of this thing at numerous comic shops during our epic pilgrimage to San Diego! There's one with your name on it, to be sure!
